Cookies anyone?


I would like to share an easy cookie recipe that I know, believe me, it will make your guests super happy and it will give the illusion that you are the perfect baker!

First I would like to share with everyone the variety of cookies around the world

  • United States: chocolate chip cookies

  • Mexico: Mexican wedding cakes

  • Argentina: Alfajores de maicena

  • France: Macarons

  • Netherlands: Speculaas

  • Finland: Joulutorttu

  • Austria: Linzer cookies

  • Italy: Amaretti

  • Greece: Kourampiedes

  • Cyprus: Koulourakia

  • Egypt: Kahk

  • Nigeria: Chin chin

  • Malawi: Mbatata

  • Iran: Reshten khoshkar

  • India: Nankhatai

  • Australia: Tim Tams

  • New Zealand: Afghan biscuits

Each country has created a suitable recipe depending on their gastronomy and ingredients available, most of those cookies are baked for special religious occasions.

And now the recipe.

Ingredients

 

  • 250gr pastry flour

  • 125gr butter at room temperature

  • 125gr powder sugar

  • One egg

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • Food colour (optional­)

Preparation Method

 

  1. Mix the flour, powder sugar, salt and stir well. Add the butter and mix with your hands until you a crumbly texture.

  2. Add the egg and vanilla and knead until you have a mass.

  3. Separate the mass into 4 equal balls and incorporate the food colour.

  4. Rool the balls into 4 equal cylinders, put them together and make a big colourful cylinder.

  5. Cover with film and place it in the fridge for at least 2 hours.

  6. Preheat the oven at 160­­­ Degrees Celsius

  7. Cut your cookies with sharp knife circles of 0.5 cm

  8. Place them on a baking tray and bake for 12 minutes.

  9. Let them cool completely and enjoy.
